Concept

Today’s average American household has shrunk from 3.7 people in 1940, living in a 1000 square foot home, to 3.1 people in 2010, inhabiting a 2300+ square foot home. Ohio State’s enCORE house maximizes the efficiency of the home, allowing for more useable space within a smaller area by condensing all the mechanical and fixed items into a minimal footprint, while still providing flexible spaces that accommodate all the modern family needs.

enCORE designed the home to fit the size of adults and kids through shelves and desks of different heights. The diagram below is a diagram depicting the smaller footprint of enCORE with all of the amenities of a larger house.
